Taapsee Pannu who has played the female lead in few horror comedy movies such as Kanchana 2 and Anando Brahma has been roped in an upcoming biopic ‘Shabaash Mithu’, based on the life of Mithali Raj.
On the occasion of Mithali Raj’ birthday Taapsee Pannu wished her in a unique way – by announcing that she is going to portray Mithali Raj in her biopic.
Taapsee will be playing the role of former skipper of Indian women’s national cricket team Mithali Raj in the latter’s biopic which is titled ‘Shabaash Mithu’, which will be directed by Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ fame Rahul Dholakia and produced by Viacom18 Studios. Shabaash Mithu starring Taapsee Pannu was officially announced on the occasion of Mithali Raj’s birthday today. Taapsee Pannu even shared pics of the Indian cricketer Mithali Raj on her Instagram handle as they cut cake and made merry. The photos showed both the ladies- Mithali Raj and Taapsee Pannu laughing and enjoying themselves, and in one of the pics, Taapsee Pannu is gifting a rose to Mithali.
Earlier, Game Over actress Taapsee Pannu shared an image of Mithali Raj’ autograph that she got from her on a piece of paper. Shabaash Mithu is another biopic for Naam Shabana fame Taapsee Pannu after Saand Ki Aankh and Soorma.
Last year, when Taapsee Pannu was asked about Mithali Raj biopic, she had said, “The script is not in place so it’s too early to talk about it. Right now, they are collecting the material and the script has not been written yet. If they offer me, I will be very happy. I really want to act in a sports biopic.”
On the other side, Taapsee Pannu will be next seen in upcoming movie Tadka, remake of the 2011 Malayalam blockbuster Salt N’ Pepper, which is in the post production stage.
