From the reports, former AIADMK Councillor S Jayagopal has erected illegal hoardings which felt on a 23-year-old techie riding bike on the road and this led to her death. In a couple of hours, city police have booked the S Jayagopal for erecting illegal hoardings that led to the loss of a girl’s life, reportedly.
It was known that the complaint was filed by the Greater Chennai Corporation and the Pallikaranai police have booked the AIADMK leader. Jayagopal was booked under the IPC sections 279 (rash driving in public), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) 304(A) (causing death by negligence) in the FIR.
In the row of the complaint, the angered protesters demanded the cops to book the AIADMK leader to book under the section 304 – punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and not section 304 (A) – death by negligence. Whereas, section 304 could attract the prison term of 10 years.
On to this issue, close sources said that “This is based on the complaint. We will decide what other sections would be included at the time of filing the charge sheet based on evidence,”
