Telangana Bus Accident: 52 Pilgrims deadTelangana Bus Accident : 52 people (pilgrims), including 4 children, have died in a bus accident in Telangana’s Jagtial district today on Tuesday. Several others were injured as a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Bus fell from a narrow road into a gorge at Kondagattu in Jagtial district.  This incident took place when the bus full of pilgrims was returning from Anjaneya Swamy temple in Telangana’s Kondagattu.

According to the latest reports, the state-owned Road Transport Corporation bus carrying about 75 people skidded off the ghat road near Shanivarapet village and fell into the valley resulting in the accident. Most of the  victims were women and over 40 years of age. The people who injured in this incident, is being shifted to Karimnagar and Hyderabad for the better treatment.

The police are suspecting that the failure of brakes on the crowded road leading to the temple led to the accident. The driver, who also died in the accident, lost control as he tried to avoid another bus on the route. The authority have  recovered the bodies of 15 males, 32 females and 5 children before calling off the rescue operation. The passengers reportedly belonged to the villages of Nachpally and Mallial.

Telangana Chief Minister KCR has expressed shock over the accident and conveyed his condolences. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the family members of the deceased.

 India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of those who died in the Jailghat bus accident in Telangana. He wrote on his twitter, “The bus accident in Telangana’s Jagtial district is shocking beyond words. Anguished by the loss of lives. My thoughts and solidarity with the bereaved families. I pray that the injured recover quickly.”

 KTR wrote on his Twitter, “No words to describe the horrific accident. Deeply anguished and my heartfelt sympathy to the families of the deceased.”
