In 2016, the dusky siren Pooja Hegde made her Bollywood debut opposite Greek God of Bollywood Hrithik Roshan with Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjo Daro, but the big budget drama failed to woo the audience and it was declared a major flop at the box office. In a career spanning about a decade Pooja Hegde has only done two Hindi films. After Mohenjo Daro (2016), she was seen in Housefull 4 (2019) . Currently she has two Hindi movies- Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali and Cirkus.
Recently during the media interaction, when Pooja Hegde was asked if she was unsatisfied with the Bollywood offers coming her way, she says, “It was a conscious decision to not act in the Hindi films. I didn’t want to do them just for the sake of it or do the roles that didn’t matter to the storyline. I have been offered big stars movies but those characters didn’t add any value to the script.”
Pooja Hegde added, “My biggest boon is that Telugu audience has accepted me and the south has given me so much respect. And it gave me strength to choose the movies that I want to do in Bollywood. Sometimes, Bollywood can be a little unforgiving if you are not from the film background or you don’t have the push, it takes some time to get the kind of roles that you want to do in the movies.”
