Amid of huge speculations on the retirement of Dhoni, National selection committee is all set to meet on Sunday for finalizing the teams for the West Indies series that is going to start in the next month. It is highly rumored that during this committee meet, Dhoni’s topic is going to be the centre of discussion on his skills, selection, and retirement.
During the World Cup 2019, Dhoni was heavily criticized by many for his slowing batting skills during the semi-final match with New Zealand. However, he still gained huge popularity for no turning back attitude when he is in the field. On speaking to the media, former national selector Sanjay Jagdale has expressed his views on MS Dhoni. He said that currently, there is no viable alternative of Dhoni.
Sanjay heaped Dhoni in praises saying, “Dhoni is a great player and has always selflessly played for India. In my opinion, the Indian team currently has no viable alternative to Dhoni as wicketkeeper-batsman”
“Dhoni is mature enough to take a decision on his retirement. But the (national) selectors should meet him to find out what is going on in his mind about his professional future as was done in the case of Sachin Tendulkar before his retirement,” he added.
On speaking to Dhoni’s batsmanship, Sanjay said that “Dhoni played in the World Cup as per the team’s requirement. In the semi-final, he was batting as per the same strategy but unfortunately, he got run out at a crucial moment (in the game)”
