In 2017, the government officials busted a major drug cartel in Hyderabad, several big names from the Telugu film industry had come under the scanner. iSmart Shankar fame Puri Jagannadh, Charmee Kaur, Ravi Teja among others were summoned for questioning. About 11 celebrities were served notices to appear before the Special Investigation Team – SIT of the Excise department for questioning.
The officials had summoned the celebrities based on the details they gathered from the kingpin of Hyderabad drug racket Calvin Mascarenhas, who was arrested during the raid. The questioning of celebrities started on 19th July.
During the interrogation, the officials also collected the blood, hair and nail samples of the Tollywood celebrities who appeared before the investigation. Now after four years, there is progress in this drugs case that is linked to the Telugu film industry. SIT of the Excise Department filed a charge sheet in this drug case and the concerned documents were submitted before the Nampally Court.
The cops submitted a report to the court after a detailed investigation and the Nampally Court approved the report. So finally the drug case will witness some progress. Telangana PCC Chief Revanth Reddy is demanding an ED investigation in this drugs case of the Tollywood celebrities.
