On account of the 367 ‘Urs’ of the 5th Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, tourists the officials are providing tourists a chance to visit the Taj Mahal for free for three days i.e., from February 27 to March 1. This opportunity is provided every year for the visitors to commemorate the death anniversary of Shah Jahan. The Superintending Archaeologist of Agra region announced, “There will be free entry for the tourists at the Taj Mahal from February 27 to March 1 on the occasion of the annual Urs.”

He revealed another point that the tourists can visit the monument from 2 pm till sunset on Feb 27 and 28, but on March 1, the visit will be allowed for full time, i.e., from Morning to Evening. Covid-19 safety measures should be followed by all the tourists while visiting the monument, said the architect.

“To solemnize the death anniversary of Shah Jahan, several rituals such as Chadar Poshi, Sandal, gusul, kul will be performed during to Urs”, said Shamsuddin Khan, the president of the approved tourist guides association.

A tourist guide Shakeel Rafiq said that it is only time in a year when visitors are permitted to enter in the undercroft to view the bona fide tombs of Shah Jahan and Mumtaj couple.
