Senior  South (Malayalam) actor and former MP Innocent Vareed Thekkethala passed away on Sunday night. He was undergoing treatment in a private hospital for the last twenty four days due to covid-related problems and breathed his last as his health condition worsened. Innocent is known as one of the legendary comedians in Malayalam cinema. He was 75 and he  took his last breathe on Sunday.

Innocent Vareed Thekkethala  who made his film debut in 1972, has played different roles in more than 750 films. Majavil Kavadi Jatakam, Patham Nilayile Teevandi, Ravanaprabhu, Vesham, Snehaveedu, Manasinnakkare and many other Malayalam movies have entertained the audience with his comedic timing. Apart from Malayalam, Innocent also  acted in Tamil and Hindi films. He made a film in English language.

In the 2014 elections, Innocent Vareed Thekkethala  contested for the MP seat from Chalakudi constituency as an independent candidate and won. He was defeated in 2019 elections. With the death of Innocent, there was a tragedy in Malayalam film industry. Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran and many Malayalam film actors have expressed their grief over Innocent’s death.

 He  celebrated his 75th birthday this month has won several prestigious awards in his career.
