South beauty Trisha Krishnan plays the Chola Princess Kundhavai in the maverick filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s upcoming magnum opus period action drama Ponniyin Selvan. She has joined the sets and started the shoot of her part. Apparently, the makers of Ponniyin Selvan are canning a few pooja sequences with Trisha Krishnan.
Mani Ratnam’ directorial venture also has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Vikram, Sarathkumar, Parthiepan, Prakash Raj, Nizhalgal Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Mohan Raman in the crucial roles.
Jayam Ravi is playing the titular role whereas Trisha is his sister. Karthi will make his screen presence in the role of Vandhiyathevan. He is paired opposite Trisha. Vikram and Aishwarya Rai are essaying the roles of Aditya Karikalan and Nandini respectively.
The big budget drama is bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, Ravi Varman is handling the cinematography and Rahman is rendering the tune.
Ponniyin Selvan is based on the novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy and Mani Ratnam is planning to release it during summer 2022.
On the otherside,Trisha recently signed the Kannada film Dvitva with Puneeth Rajkumar. This is her second film in Kannada. She was last seen in Paramapadham Vilayattu, which released directly on Disney+Hotstar. However, it opened to mixed reviews.
