President Donald Trump has released a statement on Saturday and confirmed the death of Osama bin Laden’ son. The statement reads: The late al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden’s son Hamza Bin Laden has been killed in the US counterterrorism operation in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region “
Donald Trump further stated Hamza Bin Laden’ death is a loss to al-Qaeda as its significant leader has been killed and he was responsible for dealing with a various terrorist group.
Earlier in the month of July, a US Newspaper also reported the death of Hamza Bin Laden, the high-ranking al-Qaeda member and son of Osama Bin Laden, and also quoted that he was killed two years ago but not confirmed by the US government and now Donald Trump has confirmed the news but his statement did not specify the timing of the operation.
Hamza Bin Laden, who was believed to be aged around 30, had been seeking to lead a resurgence of al-Qaida, which has been eclipsed among jihadist terrorist groups by the Islamic State. The US department designated Hamza Bin Laden as a terrorist in 2017. The US offered a $1m reward for help tracking Hamza down.
Osama bin Laden was killed by the US special forces who raided his compound in Abbottabad, in Pakistan, in the year 2011.
