Today, the Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is politicking in Noida to appeal for votes for party contestant Pankhuri Pathak. From the time when the Election Commission prohibited rallies, this is her maiden physical campaign. The Congress has given tickets to 40% women and has called on votes for the seal of approval of the fairer gender in the state.

Yesterday, the party announced its 4th list of 61 candidates, including 24 women for the Assembly polls to take place in 7 phases in Uttar Pradesh. Already, 127 women have received tickets from the party. Among the 125 contestants in the first list, there are 50 women. While, in the second list, among 41 candidates, 16 are women, and in the third list, 37 are women among the 89 contestants.
Contestants from Rae Bareli and Amethi were included in the fourth list. Surender Vikram from Harchandpur has received a ticket and Sudha Dwivedi, from Sareni has been fielded. Both the seats are in Rae Bareli. Mohd Fateh Bahadur from Gauriganj is being fielded in Amethi.
On the other hand, Kuldeep Kumar Singh from Kasganj, Kuldeep Pandey from Kishni, Dr Vinay Narayan from Bisalpur are the contestants who are in the fray. Priyamka Gandhi had said that the party is keeping its swear of providing 40% tickets to women candidates. She also said that women in the first list have been chosen from diverse backgrounds, which includes the mother of Unnao Rape survivor, Nida Ahmed, a journalist and social activist Sadaf Jafar from Lucnow who was at the forefront of anti-CAA protests, and Poonam Pandey, an Asha worker.
