
Union Cabinet meeting chaired by India PM Narendra Modi approved the Budget 2023-24 ahead of it being tabled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament on Wednesday. Following this, Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Budget 2023-24in the Lok Sabha.
Before the cabinet meeting, Nirmala Sitharaman along with Minister of States Pankaj Chaudhary and Bhagwat Karad met the President Droupadi Murmu.
President Droupadi Murmu tweeted, “Union Minister of the Finance and Corporate Affairs Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman, MoS Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, MoS Dr Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, and senior officials of the Ministry of Finance called on President at Rashtrapati Bhavan before presenting the Union Budget 2023-24.”
Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the economic agenda for government’s vision focuses on facilitating opportunities for the citizens, providing strong impetus to the growth and job creation as well as strengthening macroeconomic stability
In her speech while presenting the Union Budget for 2023-24 on Wednesday, Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “7 priority areas of Budget are inclusive development, reaching the last mile, infrastructure and investment, unleashing green growth, potential, youth and financial sector.” She said that the agriculture accelerator fund for agri startups would be set up. She also announced that a cooperative based model has been adopted to support small and marginalised farmers.
