Ghattamaneni Ramesh Babu was born on 13th October 1965, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was the son of Superstar Krishna and the brother of Mahesh Babu. When in the early 1990s , Tollywood was shifted, the Ghattamaneni family moved to Hyderabad thereafter. Earlier during an interview, Mahesh Babu had said, “ I was taken care of by his brother Ramesh during my childhood days, and he was everything for me.”
As a child artist, Ramesh Babu has acted in the movies – Dongalaku Donga, Manushulu Chesina Dongalu, Annadammula Saval, Needa and Paalu Neelu. As an adult, his first movie was Samrat which was released in 1987 which was a successful movie at the box office. He played the lead roles in Chinni Krishnudu, Mugguru Kodukulu, Black Tiger, Krishna Gaari Abbayi, Ayudam, Bazaar Rowdy, Kaliyuga Karnudu, Kaliyuga Abhimanyudu, Shanti Enathu Shanti, Naa Illee Naa Swargam, Mama Kodalu, Anna Chellelu, Pacha Thoranam and Encounter.
After quitting the acting, Ramesh Babu turned his attention to production and delivered few successful movies such as Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sooryavansham, Mahesh Babu starrer Athidi, Arjun, Dookudu and Aagadu.
Ramesh Babu was last seen in the movie Encounter. Mahesh Babu always considered his brother, Ramesh Babu, a father figure in his life. But unfortunately he is corona positive and is currently in isolation, was not able to attend the final rites of his elder brother.
