Varun Tej, who is popular for playing variety of roles in his movies, is now planning to turn villain. If ongoing buzz in media and film industry is to be believed, Varun Tej will be seen playing the role of antagonist in Telugu remake of Tamil hit movie Jigarthanda, which will be bankrolled by Dil Raju.

It is heard that Harish Shankar will helm this Telugu remake.  The director has entertained the audience last year with his directorial venture DJ aka Duvvada Jagannadham aka DJ, and now he is going to remake it. Noted producer Dil Raju who has brought the remake rights.

Interestingly, the Telugu dubbed version of Jigarthanda had released earlier in limited screens. The movie is directed by Karthik Subbaraj, and is produced by Kathiresan’s Group Company. The movie featured  Siddharth, Bobby Simha and Lakshmi Menon. Siddharth played the lead role whereas Bobby Simha was seen playing villain. Jigarthanda was deemed as one of the most technically brilliant films in Tamil Cinema. The film was also dubbed into  Telugu as Chikkadu Dorakadu, becoming Siddharth’s first Telugu release in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana post their bifurcation.

The sources say that if everything will go accordingly, Varun Tej will be seen reprising the role of Bobby Simha in this Telugu remake. Who will play the lead roles, is not yet decided.

Meanwhile, Harish Shankar is busy with the pre-production of Dagudu Moothalu and is on the lookout for suitable actors.

Earlier Young Tiger Jr NTR and Rana Daggubati have played the negative roles in movies (Jai Lava Kusa and Baahuabli respectively)  and now it is the turn of Varun Tej to turn villain.
