Victory Venkatesh and Akkineni Naga Chaitanya have teamed and played the roles of Uncle – Nephew in the film Venky Mama which got released on December 13th and opened to average reviews. However, the film has opened to superb numbers with day 1 has fetched more than 7 Crores from Telugu states alone. The film has performed exceedingly well over the weekend. It has collected almost 11 Crores from the next days, which means the weekend collections are 18 Crores worthy.
Trade Analysts then predicted that if the movie can manage to with stand week days then it will be a cake walk for the film to be declared hit. However that has not happened and a drastic drop in the collections happened. Over the next 4 days, the film has managed another 4 crores which means 22 Crores were collected over the first week. Nevertheless, it is a good total for the movie.
However, Venky Mama has done a business of around 31 Crores from Telugu States and 36 Crores when considered world wide figures. So the film has to collect more than 9 crores to be declared a hit. With four movies released today, it will be tough for Venky Mama to withstand. As except Pratiroju Pandage, no film has got clear edge. It might be a good chance for the film. We have to wait and see what will Venky Mama in second weekend.
