Veteran actress Geetanjali passed away due to cardiac arrest. She breathed her last at 11:22 pm on 30th October. She was undergoing treatment at a private hospital near Film Nagar in Hyderabad where she breathed her last.

Geetanjali was rushed to film Nagar’ Apollo Hospital right away after she fell into sudden illness. In spite of doctors’ immense efforts to save her life, she passed away in hospital.

Geetanjali hailed from Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh and in her almost six decades-long careers, Geetanjali had worked in over 500 movies in the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi film industry.

The last rites of the actress Geetanjali will be performed today evening. Ever since the tragic news came out, her fans and movie lovers have been taking to social media to express their grief. The tributes have already started to come in from all corners of the film fraternity.

Geetanjali had made her debut in the Telugu film industry with Seetarama Kalyanam, which was released in 1961. The mythological film was helmed by N T Rama Rao. Her popular movies are Dr. Chakravarthy, Letha Manasulu, Bobbili Yuddham, Devatha, Letha Manasulu, Gudachari 116 and Sambarala Rambabu.

Veteran actress Geetanjali was also a member of the Nandi Award committee.

Her original name was Mani. During the peak of her film career, Geetanjali got married to fellow actor Ramakrishna after sharing the screen with him in a few movies. After tying the knot, Geethanjali had taken a break from work but later she made her comeback as a character artist. She will be seen in milky siren starrer Tamannah Bhatia’ That is Mahalakshmi. Her son Adith Srinivas also tested his luck as an actor with the film Bhuma in 2008.
