In the absence of original Speaker Venkaiah Naidu and his deputy, YCP’s Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy occupied the Speaker’s chair of Rajya Sabha in the ongoing Parliament sessions. In general, the Vice President acts as the Speaker of the Upper House and in his absence the deputy Speaker would take the position.

But both the persons were not present in the session that happened on Thursday and Vijayasai Reddy has grabbed the opportunity for a day. He graced the chair and he had a tough time managing the house.

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned the Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge in the case against National Herald and he said, “As an MP, I am bound to attend the Parliament sessions. While I’m here, ED orders me to appear before it for questioning. Is this correct?”

In reply, Piyush Goyal, the leader of Rajya Sabha said to Kharge that ED is an autonomous body and everyone should follow what they have been ordered. During the conversation, opposition MPs protested and Vijayasai Reddy struggled to put the house in order.
