Former India captain Virat Kohli said that India did not win a single ICC trophy during his captaincy, which marked him as a failed leader. Although the Indian team reached the semi-final and final in many tournaments, people saw them as defeats. Under the captaincy of Kohli, India reached the 2017 Champions Trophy final. we reached the semis of the World Cup in 2019 and finals of the Test Championship in 2021, and I was considered as a failed captain. I never judged myself from that point of view.”

Virat Kohli  said, “After these tournaments, I was labeled a failure as a captain. But I never judged myself in that sense. At the same time brought about a change in the culture of the Indian team. I am proud of that. Everyone has seen what we have achieved as a team and the changes in our style of play. Mega tournaments are limited to one time only. But, making changes in team play and changing teams culture is a long process. It takes collective effort to make it happen. As a player I have won World Cup and Champions Trophy.” He added, “I am a member of the team that received the ICC as the number one Test scorer of the Indian team for five years.”

Virat Kohli said that he was lucky to be in the team that won the 2011 ODI World Cup.
