YSRCP head and AP chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has finalized the candidates for the upcoming MLC elections after considering societal equations and the other issues. Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy – Party general secretary has revealed the names of the candidates for 9 seats under the local bodies’ quota, 7 seats under MLA quota and 2 seats under the Governor’s quota.
11 candidates from the backward classes while two from Scheduled Castes and one from Scheduled Tribe whereas remaining four are from other castes.
In the local bodies quota, Jagan Reddy gave chance to Kudipudi Suryanarayana (East Godavari), Narthu Rama Rao (Srikakulam), Kavuru Srinivas (West Godavari), Merugu Muralidhar (Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore), Sipayi Subramanyam (Chittoor), Vanka Ravindranath (West Godavari), Ponnapureddy Ramasubba Reddy (Kadapa), A Madhusudan (Kurnool) and S Mangamma (Anantapur).
For 7 seats from MLA quota, the ruling party has fielded Pothula Sunitha, Chandragiri Yesuratnam, Kola Guruvulu, Bommi Israel, VV Surya Narayana Raju, Jayamangala Venkataramna, and Marri Rajasekhar. YSRCP has recommended names of Karri Padmasri and Kumbha Ravibabu for the nomination to Legislative Council under governor’s quota.
YSRCP leader said that during TDP rule, BCs, SCs, STs and minorities had 37 % representation in legislative Council but YSRCP has given them 43 % representation to these sections.
