Telangana YSRTP chief YS Sharmila was detained after she staged a protest against the government for not allowing her to continue a padyatra despite her having the permission of court. YS Sharmila said, “KCR is trying to kill the democracy. What right has Telangana Chief Minister KCR got to stop me when the Telangana High court has granted me permission for the Padayatra.”
On 9th December YS Sharmila was detained by the Warangal Police for staging a protest at Tank Bund Ambedkar Statue in Hyderabad. The protest took place after the Warangal Police didn’t give permission for Padayatra. Later, she was shifted from the protest spot.
YS Sharmila said, “I am sitting on hunger strike (fast-to-death), demanding that the democracy be protected in Telangana state and that I am allowed to continue the padyatra.
She had reached the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund with the memorandum on democracy being murdered in Telangana by KCR government.
YSR Telangana Party founder-president had announced the fast unto death to protest police’ denial of permission for her padayatra, which has been stalled following an attack allegedly by workers of TRS.
She had planned to resume the padyatra from Lingagiri Cross in Narsampet where her padayatra was stopped following the attack by TRS workers.
