118 movie Review: Nandamuri Kalyan Ram collaborated with cinematographer turned director KV Guhan for a thriller drama 118, in which he will be seen sharing the screen space with two actresses Shalini Pandey and Nivetha Thomas.  The movie is bankrolled by Mahesh S Koneru under the banner of East Coast Production. 118 has hit the theaters today on 1st March 2019. Recently released teaser, posters and songs have already generated good buzz and the expectations are very high. Let’s see the story line of 118.

118 movie Story: Goutham  (Kalyan Ram) is an investigative journalist. He dreams of a girl Aadya (Nivetha Thomas) being beaten up bloody by goons. He gets shock when he comes to know that the girl he dreams of really exists. He sets out to find the truth behind his dream with his girlfriend Megha (Shalini Pandey) and friend ( Prabhas srinu) . How Goutham finds the culprits, form rest of the story.

Plus Points:

  • Kalyan Ram
  • Nivetha Thomas
  • BGM
  • Visuals
  • Production values
  • Direction

Minus Points:

  • Routine flashback episode
  • Predictable Climax

Performance: Kalyan Ram plays Gotham, a TV Report who is on a mission to find out the culprits. His does justice to the character scripted for him. Shalini Pandey plays  fiancée Megha  who is alright for her part. She is seen hanging around Kalyan Ram. Nivetha Thomas gets less screen space but she justifies with her character. Nasser, Sravan, Adarsh, Prabhas Seenu, Hari Teja and others performed accordingly.

Technical: The cinematography, action and editing are all good and make the movie worth watching. But the best of all is the screenplay which is tight and keeps you immersed in the story. The music by Sekhar Chandra are good. He did superb work in composing the background score. The direction by KV Guhan  in the first half is very impressive. Dialogues are ok. Production values by Mahesh Koneru are decent.

Analysis: 118 is a mystery thriller drama and KV Guhan doesn’t waste the time and quickly gets to the point and keeps the interest alive till end. The racy screenplay and engaging action episodes make the movie interesting. 118 loses its sheen in Flashback episode, which is based on a medical conspiracy like others mystery thrillers. There are some unanswered questions which are ignored by the director KV Guhan. The lucid dreaming concept looks silly.  118 is an engaging thriller but it might not appeal to everyone.
