The first half of 2023 is over. Tollywood is on fire this year with more than twelve successes in six months. As the success rate has increased as compared to last year, the movie fraternity is expressing happiness.

  In 2023, some big budget movies that came before the audience with huge expectations turned out to be disasters at the box office and left the producers with losses.  These are:

Shaakuntalam: Samantha‘s Shakunthalam –  a mythological  drama turned out to be a disaster. Due to the pan-Indian craze for Samantha, there was a lot of hype about this movie from the beginning.  Gunasekhar as the director and Dil Raju as a production partner, fans thought it would create wonders at the box office. But it turned out a disaster.

 Custody: Naga Chaitanya disappointed with the custody. Released with huge expectations, this bilingual movie flopped at the box office. This crime thriller movie is directed by Venkat Prabhu. Released with a pre-release business of around 25 crores, the movie was a double disaster by collecting just Rs 7 Cr.

 Ravanasura: Ravanasura  starring Ravi Teja, helmed by Sudheer Varma, was released as a revenge drama,  but it was rejected by the audience. 

 Ramabanam:  After the success of Lakshyam and Laukyam, the movie was made by the combination of Gopichand and director Sriwaas. Rambanam movie, made with a budget of fifteen crores, collected less than Rs 4 Cr. It left the producers with the highest losses this year.

 Agent: Agent continued Akhil Akkineni’s streak of failures.  Due to its routine concept, Agent  was removed from the theaters in the first weekend itself.
