About 97 thousand Indians who tried to enter America illegally (Indians crossing US border illegally) were detained by the US authorities at the border.

 The number of Indians trying to enter America illegally (Indians crossing US border illegally) has increased significantly. Compared to the previous year, in 2019-2020, the number of Indians attempting to enter the US illegally has increased almost fivefold.

From October 2022 to September 2023, the number of Indians who attempted to enter the US illegally was 96,917. They were detained by the US authorities at the border. In the year 2019-2020, the number of Indians arrested for trying to enter the US illegally was only 19,883. This data was revealed by US Customs and Border Protection (UCBP) officials.

Most of the Indians tried to enter America illegally, mainly from the borders of Canada and Mexico. From October 2022 to September 2023, out of 96,917 Indians who were arrested and tried to enter the US illegally, 30,010 people tried to enter the US illegally from the Canadian border and 41,770 from the Mexican border. Seeing other Indians who entered the US illegally, many wanted to do the same and were caught by the authorities.

Last year, there were about 84,000 people who wanted to enter the US illegally as a single person. Apart from these, 730 unaccompanied children were also caught by the police trying to enter the US illegally.
