WHO has revealed the fact that the corona epidemic that has shaken the whole world has not completely disappeared yet. Moreover, it has changed form and is spreading. WHO has warned that the types of corona virus that were previously spread by air, are now spreading through water due to mutations. Last month, 9 variants of corona were detected, this month corona BA 2.86 was detected. WHO alerted the countries of the world after it was found in the water. The WHO has clarified that so far no deaths have occurred due to this, but there is a need to conduct a full-scale investigation.
It explained that this BA 2.86 variant was detected in Switzerland and Thailand. Meanwhile, the center held a review meeting after seeing a slight increase in corona cases again in India.
Variant hunters flagged BA.2.86 this month after it was found in Israel. It has more than 30 gene changes from BA.2, representing an evolutionary leap on par with one virus made from Delta to Omicron in 2021 or the leap between BA.2 and XBB.1.5, which circulated a year apart. BA.2.86 appears to have emerged in the humans only recently and the earliest known samples of the new variant were collected in the month of late July.
