On Wednesday Stylish Star Allu Arjun received the ‘CNN-News18 Indian of the Year 2022’ award in the entertainment category from Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani, who was full of praise for the actor, who cut a modest, bashful figure onstage. This was his first award for the South Indian actor from the north of India after 20 years of working in film industry. Allu Arjun was nominated for the trend-setting, cult blockbuster Pushpa which was helmed by Sukumar.
Several personalities such as Neeraj Chopra, Yogi Adityanath, and Marimuthu Yoganathan among others were honored with CNN-News18 Indian of the Year 2022 awards in their respective categories for their achievements that made the country proud worldwide.
Sonu Sood who is best known for playing the role of villain in Telugu movies, has been awarded Special Achievement award for his social work. Tennis player Sania Mirza has been honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award in sports at CNN-News18 Indian of The Year 2022 event.
Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa was the first to break the post-pandemic lull in theatres, grossing Rs 365 crore. Accepting the award, Bunny gave a new twist to a famous dialogue from Pushpa, “Indian cinema, India kabhi jhukega nahin.
