Anchor becomes MLA

The anchor turned actress Anasuya Bharadwaj is currently busy in her upcoming movie Yatra, based on the life of late Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhar Reddy. According to the latest update, Anasuya Bharadwaj will be seen playing the role of of MLA Gouru Charitha Reddy in Yatra.

Charitha won as MLA once in 2004 and again in year 2014. She is said to be a close member of YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s family and hence the makers included her character in the script and brought the hot anchor Anasuya Bharadwaj on board to essay the role.

Anasuya Bharadwaj was last seen in Sukumar’s directorial venture Rangasthalam starring Mega Power Star Ram Charan and Samantha Akkineni. After delivering the blockbuster Rangasthalam, the  popular television anchor and actress Anasuya Bharadwaj joined the sets of YSR biopic – Yatra. Directed by Mahi Raghav, Yatra will have Malayalam megastar Mammootty playing the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy. This is the first time Anasuya  is sharing the screen space with Mammootty in the biopic.

Yatra has number of top stars like  Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Rao Ramesh. According to reports in the media, Suhasini Mani Ratnam will be seen playing the then Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy and Rao Ramesh will be seen in the role of K.V.P.Ramachandra Rao who was a very close associate of YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Yatra will be Malayalam star Mammootty’s straight Telugu film after almost two decades. Mammootty was last seen in Railway Coolie which was helmed by veteran filmmaker Kodi Ramakrishna and it was  released in 1998.

Unlike other biopics, Yatra does not chronicle the entire life of YSR. Instead, the story is just about the historic padayatra of YSR that changed the course of Andhra Pradesh’s politic.

 Currently Anasuya Bharadwaj is waiting for the release of her upcoming movie Kadhanam, which is in post production stage. She will also be seen in Sukumar’s next film which will be released in 2020.
