Veteran Bollywood actress Tina Ambani, wife of industrialist Anil Ambani, appeared before ED today in connection with an investigation into the alleged contravention of foreign exchange law. The allegations are related to the Pandora Papers case. Anil Ambani testified recently in a case registered under various sections of the FEMA- The Foreign Exchange Management Act. Tina Ambani appeared before the ED today.
Anil Ambani’ wife was asked to appear before the Enforcement Directorate on Monday along with her husband but she sought exemption until later this week. However, the ED- Enforcement Directorate issued a fresh summons to Tina Ambani.
Currently ED- Enforcement Directorate is probing offshore investments and assets that are linked to the industrialist Anil Ambani and his wife for the violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act. The industrialist Anil Ambani had appeared before the ED- Enforcement Directorate in the year 2020 in a money laundering case against the Yes Bank promoter Rana Kapoor and others.
Anil Ambani appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in 2020 in connection with the Yes Bank loan kickbacks case. However, it is yet to be known in which case he appeared before the ED yesterday. Rs. In September last year, Bombay High Court ordered not to take any coercive action against Anil Ambani in Rs 420 crore tax evasion case.
