Ashrita Vemuganti to play Vijayamma in Mammootty‘s YSR biopic Yatra

Ashrita Vemuganti, a Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancer who was seen in SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahuabli 2 : The Conclusion starring Prabhas,  Rana Daggubati, Tamannah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty and Ramya Krishna, has been roped in ‘Yatra’ in which  Malayalam superstar Mammootty is playing the role of late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy. In Baahubali 2, Ashrita played the role of Anushka’s brother’s wife and she was also seen in Baahubali’s “Kanna Nidurinchara” song.

 Ashrita will play the role of Vijayamma in Yatra.  Recently the makers released the first look poster of Yatra and the poster comes with the line: “He wanted to leave a footprint in history instead, he left one in the hearts of the people.” The biopic is helmed by Mahi V Raghav and  bankrolled by 70 MM Entertainments’ Vijay Chilla and Sashi Devreddy.

After 25 years, Mammootty will be starring in a straight Telugu film, his last outing in Tollywood was  Swathi Kiranam,   helmed by K Vishwanath in 1992.
