Plus Points:

  • Performance
  • Vijay
  • Action episode
  • First half

Minus Points:

  • Second half
  • Climax
  • Predictable story

Performance:  Vijay has owned the character. His body language is fantastic. He stayed within the character and enthralled mass lovers and fans without stepping out of it. He comes up with an outstanding performance in the film. It’s not an easy feat to match up to the screen presence and aura of Vijay. He is charming and fun in Beast.  The director Selva Raghavan turns an actor with Beast. Yogi Babu is fine. Pooja  Hegde does not get much screen presence and she is just ok.  Her character doesn’t add much value to the story.  VTV Ganesh, Sathish and a bunch of other comedians, provide  laughs  to the audiences.

Technical: After  Thalapathy Vijay,  the music composer Anirudh Ravichander is the hero of Beast. Thalapathy Vijay’ peppy Arabic Kuthu and Jolly O Gymkhana are highlighted. Cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa does fantastic job and editor Nirmal’s work is noteworthy. Dialogues add value. Action choreography is well designed. Production values are grand.

Analysis: Coming on the work  of the director  Nelson Dilipkumar, he  tries to stick to his storytelling template by introducing characters who aid the hero in the rescue mission just like in his last film Doctor. There is no powerful villain in this film Beast to take on Vijay and make the proceedings interesting.
