Story: Anupama (Priyamani) is a youtuber, whose recipes are a hit. She is one who is always curious to know what is happening in other people’s lives. She and her husband  (Sharanya Pradeep) live in a housing complex. Even when Anupama is busy filming videos for her YouTube channel, she keeps an eye on what is happening in her neighbourhood.   One day a neighbour gets murdered and it falls on Anupama to deal with the accidents that ensue from this one shocking incident.  How Anupama landed in problem?  What is the connection to it with a missing egg from the Kolkata museum? How did Anupama get out of it? That forms the rest of  story of Bhama Kalapam .

Plus Points:

  • Story
  • Direction
  • Screenplay
  • Performance
  • Cinematography

Minus Points:

  • Lack of seriousness
  • Few silly and illogical scenes

Performance: Priyamani impresses everyone with her performance as a typical Indian woman and housewife who shows interest in finding out the secrets of her neighbors. Her expressions and emotions elevated the scenes. Sharanya Pradeep performs well. Priyamani and Sharanya Pradeep steal the show with their riveting performances and elevating the scenes . Shanti Rao does good job in the role of inspector Lakshmi. Rest of the cast perform accordingly.

Technical:  Coming to the work of director  Abhimanyu, he comes up with the story of an  innocent homemaker who gets pulled into unexpected events. He has done a decent job with the film but by adding more drama and tension in the narrative things would have been better. The production design is very good as the apartment society and culture are brought out so well. Deepak Yeragera’s cinematographer is an asset.  BGM of Bhama Kalapam  is good in some places.

Analysis: The first  of Bhama Kalapam  half ends on an interesting note with Priyamani trying to come out of the problem. But many scenes looked predictable, the suspense element associated with it and the kept viewers guessing and managed to shock all with the final twist.
