Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy was shot dead by his own follower Bhanu Kiran in Hyderabad on 3rd January  2011 in the city’s Yousufguda area. Later Bhanu, with the help of the other accused in the case, got on a motorbike and sped away. He was arrested in 2012 in Zaheerabad, now in Telangana. Along with Suri, the CID filed a charge sheet against six others. In the month of May this year, a local court in Hyderabad sentenced Bhanu Kiran and three others to one year of imprisonment for illegal possession of firearms.

Dozens of people were killed in the rivalry between the two families-  the families of gangster-turned-politicians Paritala Ravindra and Maddelachervu Suri. Everything was started  when Maddelacheruvu Suri’s father Gangula Narayana Reddy allegedly got his rival P Sriramulu killed. The latter’s son, Paritala Ravi, took revenge by eliminating Narayana Reddy, several of his aides and family members. Except one brother of Suri, who died in a road accident, all the other family members of the two warlords were murdered by rivals in the most brutal fashion.
