Manam starred three generations of the Akkineni household from Akkineni Nageswara Rao to Nagarjuna to Naga Chaitanya. Manam also featured the actress who is now daughter in law of Nagarjuna– Samantha Akkineni! Manam was also the last movie of Akkineni Nageswara Rao.
On 23rd May 2014, the Telugu audiences saw the entire Akkineni family come together for a film ‘Manam’ which was one of the biggest hits in Telugu Film Industry. Today as Manam completes four years, Akkineni Nagarjuna took to Twitter and facebook to share his feeling.
Nagarjuna shared a rare pic on the Facebook page of Annapurna Suudios, “Today as we celebrate 4 years of Manam, we would like to share this unseen poster with you! #ANR | Vikram K Kumar | Akkineni Nagarjuna |Akkineni Naga Chaitanya | Samantha Akkineni |Shriya Saran ” Coming on the pic, Head of the family Akkineni Nageswar Rao, son Nagarjuna and grandson Naga Chaitanya are seen in this pic.” This pic is going viral on social media.
Nagarjuna shared another pic of his father Akkineni Nageswar Rao (ANR) and captioned it “It’s been 4 yrs since #Manam released. I hv been thinking of how you made us cry,laugh and finally inspire the family to face life and death!! we think of you all the time NANA and we smile #ANRliveson.”
Akkineni Nagarjuna also brought to notice an interesting thing about Manam. ANR last film Manam and his debut film Vikram were released on same date i.e 23rd May. Nagarjuna tweeted, “I sometimes wonder if it is a coincidence or the universe likes numbersmy fathers LAST film #manam & my FIRST film Vikram released on the same date May23of course we didn’t plan.. it just happened!! Reverse 23 and that becomes 32! My age as an actorthx for all the love”
Nagarjuna starrer Vikram was released on 23rd May 1986, it was directed by V. Madhusudhan Rao and actress Sobhana played the female lead role.
Nagarjuna also stated that the number 23 currently has another significance to his life. Nagarjuna said reversing 23 would denote his number of years in acting – 32 years.
May 23rd and Manam will always hold special place in the heart of Akkineni Nagarjuna.

Manam was helmed by Vikram Kumar and produced by Akkineni Family under their Annapurna Studios banner. Harsha Vardhan wrote the dialogues, while Anup Rubens composed music for Manam. P. S. Vinod handled the cinematography of Manam.
Manam was screened at the 45th International Film Festival of India in the Homage to ANR section on 29 November 2014. Manam also garnered the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu.
On the otherside, Nagarjuna is busy in the promotional activities of his upcoming film Officer, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, which is hitting the theaters on 1st June.
