Bill Gates, the Microsoft Corporation, co-founder has officially left its board of directors to spend more time on philanthropic activities. He is leaving Microsoft’s board, the company announced on Friday.

Bill Gates says he wants to focus on global health and development, education and tackling climate change that is the reason he is leaving Microsoft Company.

Bill Gates is the second richest man in the world. Mr. Bill Gates has also left the board of Warren Buffett’s company- Berkshire Hathaway.

Satya Nadella, the Microsoft chief executive and company, said, “It’s been a tremendous honor and privilege to have worked with and learned from Bill Gates over the years. I am grateful for Bill Gates’ friendship and look forward to continuing to work alongside him”.

Bill Gates co-founded Microsoft Company in the year 1975 with Paul Allen, who died in the year 2018. Bill Gates was CEO until 2000 when Steve Ballmer took over the role. Microsoft’s current CEO, Satya Nadella, took over in the year 2014.

Mr. Bill Gates was director of the board at Microsoft Company until the year 2014 but he started to dedicate most of his time to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2008.

Microsoft Company went public in the year 1986 and within a year Bill Gates had become the youngest self-made billionaire.

Bill Gates grew up in Seattle with two sisters. His dad William was an attorney and his mother Mary was a schoolteacher and chairwoman of United Way International.
