Though silence gripping in Jammu and Kashmir, sounds of serious disinterest from corners of people and opposition parties are echoing. As BJP holds the name as an anti-Muslim party, and their latest move on scrapping of Article 370 and 35(A) has made the opposition parties think their decision as anti-muslim.
On speaking to the J & K issue, former Union Minister Chidambaram told, “…They (BJP) claim Kashmir is stable. Is it? Does it mean stable if Indian media houses don’t cover the unrest in J&K?”
He further said they are about seven regional parties ruling in seven states, which stood against the BJP’s decision on J&K. Chidambaram further added saying, “I know we do not have a majority in Lok Sabha, but had the seven parties (AIADMK, YSRCP, TRS, BJD, AAP, TMC, JDU) cooperated, the opposition would have been in majority in RS. This is something disappointing,”.
Chidambaram further alleged in the public meeting that there were about 10,000 people protested in Soura in J and K which is truth and shootings happened which is a truth. He expressed his concern saying in the 70 years history of the nation, there has never been an example of turning a state to Union Territory.
He alleged as, “Today, Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into a municipality…There are special provisions for other states under Article 371, why only J and K…This is because of religious fanaticism. If J&K was a Hindu dominated state, BJP would not have done this. They did it only because the region is dominated by Muslims,”
