It is said by the Union minister Prahlad Joshi that the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the minister of external affairs S.Jaishankar are likely to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Both the ministers are two of the most potent ministers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet. Also, they are the members of Rajya Sabha. They have not experienced common elections even though they have been sustaining the responsibilities as the Members of Parliament.
Prahlad Joshi said that the party is framing a plan for their candidature in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls this year. But it is yet to confirm if Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar will contest from Karnataka.
The PTI reported, “It is appearing in the media. More or less it is final that they will contest the Lok Sabha elections. It has not been decided yet from where they will fight, whether it is in Karnataka or some other state.”
Prahlad Joshi said to PTI, “I have only said that anybody can contest, and not particularly named anyone. It is a national party and our leadership will decide. I have not said it like that.” While Nirmala Sitharaman represents Karnataka at present in the Rajya Sabha, S Jaishankar represents Gujarat.
