Black Panther is crushing Rakul Preet Singh’s Bollywood movie Aiyaary at the box office. Rakul pinned lot of hopes on Aiyaary and she also involved in promotional activities of the film with her costar Siddharth Malhotra. Both the movies – Black Panther and Aiyaary were released on 16th February 2018.
Marvel’s superhero film Black Panther has managed to rake in Rs 19.35 Cr from 1000 screens over the first weekend, while Neeraj Pandey-directed political thriller Aiyaary could only manage to collect Rs 11.70 Cr from 1750 screens. It clearly proved that the Bollywood release was outperformed by the superhero movie.
Trade Alalyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#BlackPanther emerged the first choice of moviegoers… Fared well in its opening weekend… Thu previews + Fri 5.60 cr, Sat 6.65 cr, Sun 7.10 cr. Total: ₹ 19.35 cr Nett BOC… Gross BOC: ₹ 24.81 cr. India biz… Note: Hindi + English.”
He again wrote on the wall of Twitter, “#Aiyaary fell flat on Sun… Growth in biz was missing… Weekend biz is lower than #AGentleman [₹ 13.13 cr] and #Ittefaq [₹ 16.05 cr]… Overall, lacklustre… Fri 3.36 cr, Sat 4.04 cr, Sun 4.30 cr. Total: ₹ 11.70 cr. India biz.”
Black Panther, directed by Ryan Coogler, and starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke and Andy Serkis in pivotal roles. This is the first film in the Black Panther series.
