TDP President and Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh and several leaders of his Telugu Desam Party have been put under house arrest on Wednesday to prevent them from participating in a massive protest against the government run by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders and workers who were trying to go to Nara Chandrababu Naidu’ residence were stopped by police and taken into the preventive custody.
The TDP members, who’d gathered outside Chandrababu Naidu’s residence to protest against the detention, clashed with the police.
According to the latest update, Andhra Pradesh police have put several Telugu Desam Party leaders under house arrest in view of party’s call for ‘Chalo Atmakur’ rally to protest against alleged “atrocities” of ruling ySRCP Government today. Section 144 has been imposed in Narasaraopeta, Palnadu, Sattenapalle and Gurajala.
The members of both the parties have been clashing with each-other since Tuesday morning Granthasiri village of Guntur district. More than 5 people from both sides have sustained injuries in clashes and they were admitted to Sattenapalli Government Hospital.
Former CM Chandrababu Naidu went on a 12 hour fast on Wednesday morning – from 8 am to 8 pm, to protest the detention.
