- Tamil flavor
Performance: Karthi is one of the talented actors, who can fit in any role. His body language, expressions, dialogue delivery are perfect. He is fit in the role of farmer. Karthi carries the entire movie on his shoulder. Sathyaraj’s performance needs no mention as we know how he won millions of hearts with his role as Kattappa in SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali. Sayyeshaa Saigal plays her role in a natural way. Bhanupriya, Viji Chandrasekhar, Arthana Binu, Ponvannan, Soori, Sriman, Soundararaja, Yuvarani, Indhumathi and others performed accordingly.
Technical: The Story of Chinna Babu is simple. What makes this simple story different is the screenplay format. Cinematography by Velraj is excellent. The movie has some fantastic visuals. He captures the colorful visuals of village locals very well, which is visual treat. Art department has done good job. The production values are top notch. Telugu dubbing is not that good for few characters. Background music by D. Imman is very good. Songs blended well into narration. Editing by Ruben is good. Dialogues are note worthy.
Analysis: Overall Chinna Babu is village based drama. Pandiraj tried to highlight the internal problems of joint families in Chinna Babu. Plus points of the films are screenplay, cast, entertainment and sentiment. The movie has lot of Tamil flavour. First half of Chinna Babu is good. Second half gets a little slow. And climax is satisfactory.
