The first positive case of coronavirus in the Indian Army- A soldier has tested positive for the infection in Ladakh. On Wednesday, the army sources confirmed the first case of coronavirus of Indian Army soldiers. Now the total number of cases in India rose to 147.

The 34 years old soldier is being treated in isolation while his sister and wife have been quarantined in Ladakh. The soldier’s father has also tested positive for COVD-19- Coronavirus after he returned from Iran pilgrimage recently and he is also being treated.

The Indian soldier, a resident of Chuhot village in Laddak, came in contact with his father, who had returned from a pilgrimage in Iran by an Air India flight on 20th February and tested positive for COVID-19. He is currently in quarantine at the Ladakh Heart Foundation since 29th Feb.

Before being quarantined, the soldier’s father had met the family members and infected them. The Jawaan was on leave from 25th February and rejoined duty on 2nd March. He was quarantined on 7th March and tested positive on 16th March. The sources close to the Jawan family revealed that the soldier’s brother has tested positive.

The Jawaan has been isolated at the Sonam Nurboo Memorial Hospital.
