 On Wednesday, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), issued notice to the Bihar government over an incident in which policemen dumped the remains of a road accident victim in a canal in Muzaffarpur district. The matter came to light after a video of the act went viral on social media.

 Now according to the latest report, Patna High Court has taken suo motu cognisance of news reports of the  video in which three Bihar policemen were seen dumping the body of the road accident victim into a canal in  Muzaffarpur district of Bihar.

The division bench comprises of Chief Justice K Vinod Chandran and Justice Rajiv Roy asked state police chief to “place on record the action taken against erring officials”.

 High Court remarked that way the police appeared to have acted in this incident was a sad reflection of the  society.

 The Court also referred to NHRC’ advisory on Upholding the dignity and protecting the rights of the deceased.
