Cyclone Michaung is causing heavy rains in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh is also being affected. Cyclone siren is sounding in AP and Tamil Nadu. It is raining in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram. Red alert has been announced in these areas. Many parts of Chennai have already become waterlogged due to incessant rains. Road traffic was disrupted due to waterlogging of the roads. Due to flooding on the railway tracks, train services were stopped.

According to the Meteorological Department, due to Cyclone Mychaung formed in the Bay of Bengal, the intensity of rains and winds will increase on the coast of North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh from December 3, and it is likely to cross those coasts by the evening of December 4. Sunanda, Managing Director of Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Center said that the low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal is likely to strengthen and become a cyclone. Moving in northwest direction, it is likely to touch the North Tamil Nadu coast and South Andhra coast on December 4 evening, but rains and winds are likely to increase from December 3.

IMD also alerted farmers in parts of Andhra Pradesh to protect their standing crops. The red alert is for AP- Andhra Pradesh for Monday and Tuesday (4th and 5th December).
