According to IMD estimates, Cyclone Michaung in southwest Bay of Bengal moved north-westwards and intensified and reached the west-central Bay of Bengal by Monday morning along the south coast and north Tamil Nadu coast. It is expected to cross the coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam on Tuesday afternoon, moving parallel to the south coast since morning. It will gradually weaken after crossing the coast.

The Meteorological Department has warned people to be alert that there is a possibility of light to moderate rains in many places, heavy to very heavy rains in some places and extremely heavy rains in some places due to the impact of Cyclone Michaung.

There will be moderate rains here and there in Rayalaseema. The managing director of the disaster agency Dr. BR Ambedkar said. Winds will blow at 80-100 kmph along the coast on Monday and 90-110 kmph from tomorrow evening, fishermen have been warned not to go fishing in the sea.

According to IMD, a red alert has been issued in West Godavari and Dr Ambedkar Konaseema of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Krishna, Bapatla, Nellore, Prakasam,  and Guntur in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Chittoor, Tirupati, Annammayya and YSR Kadapa in the Rayalaseema region.

Special CS G Sai Prasad of Revenue (Disaster Management) and Managing Director of Disaster Management Dr.BR Ambedkar are regularly monitoring the weather conditions from the State Control Room of Disaster Management and issuing instructions to the Collectors through teleconference on the impact of cyclone in AP.

Officials have announced that they are ready to deal with dire situations. It was explained that the district administration has made adequate arrangements to move the people living in the low-lying areas affected by the cyclone to safe places and relief camps if necessary. 4 NDRF and 6 SDRF teams have already reached the affected districts for relief operations.
