Dhanya, who is also known as Rafiya Banu, complained to the Chennai city police that she received threatening calls in the early hours of 14th and 16th May. The Tamil Young actress Dhanya, who stays in a rented house at Vadapalani, registered a Police complaint with the Commissioner of Tamil Nadu Police, yesterday morning and in her statement, Dhanya said, “I have acted in a Tamil film titled, 18.5.2009, in the direction of Ganesan. I have also been the part of many popular advertisements. Now I am receiving a mysterious phone call from an unknown caller ID.”
Dhanya further said, “On 14th May at 1.16 am, a guy made a call and abused me with bad words. He also threatened me that my life will be in big danger after the release of 18.5.2009 movie. He asked me how i could act n**e in 18-05-2009. He said that he would kill me. I told that person that I was just an actress, and if he had any issues with the film, I asked him to contact the filmmaker but he did not listen to me and abused.” Dhanya said, “ On 16th May, once again I received a call and a person threatened me.”
Dhanya requested the Commissioner to take necessary strict action against the person who abused and threatened her.
Dhanya has been the part of two movies in two movies- LTTE – “Porkalathil Oru Poo” and the upcoming “18-05-2009.” Dhanya played the lead role as Isaipriya, a television journalist raped and murdered by members of the Sri Lankan army during the final stages of the Sri Lankan Civil War in ‘Porkalathil Oru Poo’, which was banned by the Censor Board due to its controversial content and remains unreleased.
18-05-2009 is directed by K Ganeshan and featured Subash Chandra Bose as lead character.
Dhanya has also submitted a complaint to the cybercrime wing to trace the suspect.
