Barely 48 hours ( 2 days) after becoming the world richest person, Elon Musk lost the top spot, once again, to French billionaire Bernard Arnault. Tesla CEO was bumped to 2nd position on Friday as per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Elon Musk regained the top spot on the world’s richest list earlier this week. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, his net worth is $187.1 billion. But Tesla shares fell more than 5 % on Wednesday. This caused Musk’s net income to drop by nearly $2 billion. With that, French billionaire Bernard Arnault, the owner of luxury brand Louis Vuitton, regained the top spot.
Elon Musk’s wealth fell by 1.91 billion in one day to 184 billion. Meanwhile, Arnault topped the list with a fortune of $186 billion. Arnault regained the position occupied by Musk less than 2 days ago as the richest person in the world. Meanwhile, after Tesla’s share price fell by 65 percent in 2022 due to various reasons, Arnault pushed Elon Musk to second place last December and became the world’s richest man.
In 2022, Elon wealth nosedived by $200 billion, reported to be biggest ever loss of wealth in recent history. Tesla share plunge was led by the weak economy, Covid-19/Corona virus aftermath in China and Elon Musk’ controversial Twitter takeover.
