Cyberabad police busted an interstate gang circulating fake currency notes in Telangana and other states. Cyberabad Police Commissioner Stephen Ravindra said on Tuesday that a 13-member gang was arrested and more than Rs 30.68 lakh worth of fake notes were seized. In a joint operation conducted by the Special Task Force, Law and Order Police and Special Operations Team Cyberabad Police, the gang was arrested and 60,500 original currency notes and 13 mobile phones were seized. The main accused Koneti Rajesh and Neel Das hail from Odisha and Tripura. The rest of the accused belong to the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Three other accused including Surya from Tamil Nadu are absconding. The police have made progress in the investigation of the case registered at the Rayadurgam police station on the complaint of the hotel supervisor that one of the customers, Rajesh, had given fake notes while vacating the room. Police investigation revealed that Rajesh and some others formed a gang and circulated fake notes secretly somewhere. The accused said that Rajesh used to comment on YouTube videos and post on Instagram that fake currency was available, and if he provided the mobile number in the account DP, many customers would contact him and buy fake notes.

 The Commissioner of Police said that the same marketing is being used by various manufacturers and distributors for the circulation of fake currency.
