A massive fire broke out in Vizag fishing harbor on Sunday midnight. It is known that more than 40 boats were burnt in this fire accident. After 11.30 pm, a huge fire broke out. The fire spread to other boats within seconds. Many fishermen keep their boats anchored in the harbour.

Fishery wealth worth lakhs of rupees is in the boats. In the morning they were to be auctioned and sold as usual. When this fire happened, all that wealth was destroyed by fire. As soon as the incident came to know, three fire brigades reached the spot and tried to control the fire. RDO Hussain Saheb took steps to bring three more shakats.

AP Mechanized Boat Owners Welfare Association president Janakiram revealed that there were 500 boats in the anchorage when this incident  took place and 100 of them caught fire. We could save  sixty boats which were partially damaged but forty have been completely gutted. Each boat costs around Rs 60 -Rs 80 lakh. The incident caused panic as LPG cylinders in boats exploded with the huge sound.
