Prominent Tamil film actor and director G Marimuthu passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 58 on Friday. Marimuthu collapsed due to a heart attack in the dubbing studio. When the staff rushed to the hospital, the doctors declared  the actor dead.

Relatives say that G Marimuthu went to the dubbing studio on Friday morning to dub for a TV show called Ethir Nichel. It is said that he had a heart attack at that time. In Tamil, Marimuthu appeared as a comedian and character artist in over a hundred films.

Marimuthu became an actor with the movie Wali directed by SJ Surya starring Ajith as the hero. Marimuthu played a key role in Rajinikanth’s recent release Jailer. Many movies starring Marimuthu were dubbed into Telugu and received success. Apart from being an actor, Marimuthu has directed two Tamil movies as a director. A tragedy struck the Tamil cinema with the death of Marimuthu.

G Marimuthu was known for his bold opinions, which often became a topic of debate on the  social media. Recently, he played one of the villain’ sidekicks in Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth starrer Jailer.

His body will be shifted to his Chennai home (in Virugambakkam) for public homage. Later his body will be taken to Theni, his hometown, where  the actor’s final rites will be performed.
