Good news for those who are working in America with H1B visa. The court has ruled that the partners of these visa holders can also work in US. This will benefit thousands of Indians working in America. Experts say that this judgment will benefit all Indians as well as foreigners working in America.
H1B is the visa given to foreign professionals working in America. Employees entering America with this visa can also bring their partners (wife or husband). They are given H4 Visa (Dependent) by the US Government. Those staying in America with this H4 visa are not allowed to work as per the rules. However, these rules were amended during the administration of Barack Obama. This enabled thousands of H4 visa holders to get jobs.
The ‘Save Jobs USA’ organization has challenged Obama government’s decision in court. It argued that American citizens are being harmed by providing employment opportunities to H4 visa holders and their jobs are being taken away by these H4 visa holders. Amazon, Apple, Google, Microsoft and other international companies have objected to this.
While hearing their arguments as defendants in the court, they said that the number of professionals coming to USA will increase due to providing employment opportunities to H4 visa holders. The skills of dependent visa holders are useful for country. After hearing arguments from both sides, District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled that H4 visa holders can work and the rule brought by Obama government should be continued.
