It is reported that up to 50 employees have been fired from the Google news division by Google’s owner company ‘Alphabet’.

Tech giant Google is rumored to have laid off 40-45 staff from its news division this week. There is no official information from Google regarding this matter.

It is unclear exactly how many people were fired. However, at least 50 Google News Division employees have lost their jobs, according to a representative of the Alphabet Workers Union. Hundreds of employees are still working in Google’s news department, he said. Although this lay off is limited to a few employees at present, it seems that in the near future there may be lay offs in many other divisions including the News Division. The news division is also one of Google’s long-term human resource investments, and the company is helping those who have lost their jobs in the current lay-off to get job opportunities in other organizations, a Google spokesperson revealed.

Earlier last month, Google’s parent company Alphabet announced that it was cutting employees from its global recruiting team. In 2023, giants like Meta, Microsoft, and Amazon have already laid off hundreds of employees. This January, Google cut 12,000 jobs, or 6 percent of its workforce worldwide. Google has also slowed down the hiring process.
