Union minister Anurag Thakur said 104 YouTube channels, 45 videos, 4 Facebook accounts, 3 Instagram accounts, 5 Twitter handles and 6 websites have been blocked for spreading misinformation and threatening the national security. He said section 69A of the Information Technology Act provides for blocking of the content over digital media in the interest of the sovereignty or integrity of India, defence of the India, security of the State, friendly relations with the foreign States or public order or for preventing incitement to the commission of any cognizable offence relating to the above.
Anurag Thakur said that the listed media were threatening the nation and spreading misinformation to the people.
The government directed social media companies to block 1,643 user-generated URLs from 2021 to October 2022 under the provisions of Part-II of the IT Rules for spreading misinformation and threatening national security.

Anuragh responded to this question by saying that any such advertisement that breaks the law is quickly discovered and a warning is given to producers. He highlighted the age brackets established for OTT material under the IT regulations 2021, including adult category and those for viewers over the age of 7, 13, and 16.
